Membership

MRC has members at all levels of fitness and experience. Our members include men and women of all ages - from teenagers and school age through to our oldest masters who still get out in boats after fifty years of rowing! We are proud of the diversity and contribution of all our members to keep the club alive, growing and a great place to be.

Benefits

Membership at MRC provides more than just rowing. Membership includes:

  • Use of the rowing equipment, based on your type of membership and level of experience
  • Use of the club facilities including change rooms, kitchenette
  • Use of the club gym equipment
  • Participation in club fitness programs
  • Access to coaching.
  • A friendly and active social environment

Fees

Fees for membership are separated into three categories. The total cost includes your membership fee plus GST, Rowing Victoria affiliation and public liability insurance.

  • Student Membership
    For full time students under the age of 25 who wish to row socially or competitively.
    Total Annual Cost: $331.10*
  • Senior Membership
    For members who wish to row either socially or competitively.
    Total Annual Cost: $512.60*
  • Associate Membership
    For social, non-rowing members. You will need to upgrade to a Senior Membership in order to row.
    Total Annual Cost: $77.00^

We also have a special membership category for dedicated coxswains. Coxswain Only members who do not wish to row are exempt from membership fees, but must pay their RV affiliation and insurance fees (currrently $61.60 per year).

^ A joining fee will be charged if a Social Member regrades to Senior or Student membership.

Participation

Being a member at Melbourne Rowing Club means a lot more than just rowing. Our members contribute to the financial and social fabric of the club in the following ways:

  • Voluntary coaching fees that contribute to boat purchases
  • Providing club breakfast on a Sunday morning, according to a roster
  • Voluntary coaching of younger and newer rowers
  • Cooking at Pasta Night
  • Committee membership
  • Organising social functions and fund raisers

If you're interested in joining MRC, you will need to arrange two current committee members to counter-sign your membership application form and then send it to the club with the first year's membership fees (note that the minimum joining period is one year).
