I'm very excited to announce that Kieran Stark has been selected as the Victorian Young Person in Sport Award Winner, by the Department of Community Planning and Development, otherwise known through the Go For Your Life program.
Kieran was selected as one of three finalists from 32 nominees in his category. The significance of his achievement was not lost on the audience. Considering the other two incredible finalists, the announcement received the greatest applause and appreciation from the audience for the night (and that wasn't just the rowdy nominee support team!).
Kieran gave a fantastic speech at times personal, poignant, humorous and all the way pumped with testosterone (by Kieranâs own declaration!). Sadly for Kieran, Channel Ten were not there to capture him in 'Play of the Day', but the lovely prizes and five minutes under the spotlight surely made up for it!
A contingent of enthusiastic MRC and family supporters attended the presentation ceremony at the MCG, where Kieran was presented his award. The ceremony was attended by the Minister James Merlino and hosted by Tonya Roberts (ABC Radio).
Coincidentally David Crawshay had been invited to present as a special guest speaker and his participation was timed just before Kieranâs announcement, making the award all the more special!
